Woodware Design Team Challenge - Rollagraph

We're having a blog hop!!!
Welcome to the
Woodware and Clearsnap
Spring Gifts Blog Hop!!!
Whether you're getting ready for Mother's Day (US), graduation season, or just because, these gifts ideas can be made with a few Clearsnap inks, Rollagraph Stamp Wheels, and Woodware Craft Collection Clear Stamps. All week long we'll be sharing inspiring gift ideas on our blogs here:
Clearsnap Blog:

It's all about Rollagraphs this week and creating a gift. So I have decorated the cover of a tall notepad that I bought in Tesco. In fact I bought a few as I liked the shape - tall and long. Asda also sell little notepads but they are shorter.

I have used my Rollagraph design over every thing I have added to the cover. I started by making a sheet of background paper using some of the very smooth stamping paper that Woodware distribute for 'Craftwork Cards'. I did some masking and sponging to bring out the design. I have used 'Chippies' to spell out the word 'notes' and rolled over them with the Rollagraph. I have added strips of black torn card which is all 'Rollagraphed' as well as the ribbon!!.... see what I mean. The black on black is very subtle.
Once the ink was dry on the 'Chippies' I sponged the letters. I really like the way that the letters are just visible and almost blend in to the background.
For the ink I used a ColorBox Wicked Black pad. I simply rolled my Rollagraph over the pad several times for good ever coverage like you would with a brayer. Very easy to use and versatile! [as you can see lol].

Head on over to the Clear Snap Blog to see what they've created today!! And don't forget to follow Clearsnap  on twitter and Facebook and you will find Woodware on Twitter and Facebook too.

Happy Hopping!

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Turquoise and brown

I really enjoyed doing this challenge as turquoise blue is one of my favourite colours and it goes so well with brown. I have combined two 'Kaleidacolor' ink pads 'Cappuccino Delight' and 'Fresh Breeze' to get the browns and turquoise blue. I do love these ink pads as they are very cleverly put together.
The stamp set featured is a new one from the Spring release which is so suited for purely stamping:
I did a very small amount of painting in the heart and on the butterflies using ink from the 'Cappuccino Delight' pad. I pressed the pad against some foil to make a palette so as not add water to the pad.
For extra detail I have added some Mark Richards bling. I have used 'Nailheads' in the corners, 'Candy Bonbons' dotted around and for the butterflies I coloured some gold 'Metals' brown with a Sakura 'Identi pen'. They look like copper!
If you are wondering where the background paper come from? I bought a very old book from an Oxfam shop so the pages are already yellowed...

Cards for Dads

Another card that I made in preparation  for my demo day at 'A Maze of Memories'. It could be used for 'Father's Day' or for a birthday.
I have used this single stamp and this greeting set:
FRS109 Dad
FRCL171 All Through The Year

The 'Dad' stamps works really well over patterned paper as in this sample or is also great on plain coloured card with the border coloured in.

I love punches that have good waste [lol] ... like the tiny stars from this 'Martha Stewart' punch.

Even the men are entitled to a little bling... oh and a bit of ribbon!

I did a little bit of grunge on the blue card which I think works really well.

The papers come from a 6 by 6 pad from 'My Minds Eye'.

Hope you have enjoyed and will come back in a couple days time to see a variation. Tomorrow is my turn for posting on the Woodware Blog.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - 21st Birthday

This one had to be a quick card as I'm so busy sorting the Christmas... yes Christmas designs. I'm very please with my little[lol] collection! but now they need cleaning up,last minute adjustments and a base...
I have worked with the number 'Chippies' and 'Skagen' paper collection. Quite muted for me!!
I covered the numbers with Starlight Black Brilliance ink. It is like a pewter silver. A little tip to hurry the process use a heat gun between layers!
I've used Mark Richards pearls to bling up the numbers, keys, tag and corners.
The inverted corner punch is perfect for the pearls in the corners. I have stamped the greeting and rose border onto a punched tag. They come from this set:
FRCL213 Tag Builder

The lilac ribbon is a new one that Woodware are stocking. It's to die for!
You get a rainbow assortment in a lovely box.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Sketch

wasn't sure when I first saw the sketch but once I started to plan I warmed to it. I have opted to change the thin rectangles to lines of circles which I really like. I've used one of my doggy sets:
FRCL119 Man's Best Friend

I have punched the circles using the yellow 1 1/2" punch. The noses are shinny... I remembered! The Sakura clear Glaze Pen is perfect for the job. I did some sponging as it seems appropriate for a doggy theme. I have added some Mark Richards 'Nailheads' to complete the card.

Another Demo Card

As promised another sample that I made ahead of my demo at 'A Maze of Memories' to show you. If you missed yesterday's go back one post to see some fun cards using my 'Smart Gadgets' set.

This is an easel card. They are not very easy to photograph but I do love the concept of the card.

I have paper pieced using papers from an echo 6 by 6 pad. The stamp is one of my favourites from this spring release.

FRS116 Patchwork Boat

I thought this would make a great card for a dad with a summer birthday or for Father's day in June. For some reason the boat looks more nautical to me on a circular panel!

I used the clouds from this set;

Demo at A Maze of Memories

I had a wonderful day on Saturday just past at 'A Maze of Memories' near Thame/Long Crendon. I did a demo in the morning and the ladies did a master class using some of my new stamps in the afternoon. There was plenty of chat, tea and cake!!
Everyone is so friendly that I love going there... wish it was closer so I could pop in every week for a craft fix!
I wanted to show you some cards I made ahead of the demo using this set. They were inspired by my Glitter pot W/Ss.

FRCL213 Smart Gadgets

It's my beautiful boy in the frame aged 14... he's almost 19 now.

Here is another card but with the aperture the other way up. I created the aperture with a new Hero/Sizzix die. It's a great simple shape.

The orange piece inside the card has been stamped using one of my singles. You can also see it inside the card above.

FRS212 Alphabet Background

It goes really well with the 'Smart Gadgets' set. At the demo I used it with my 'Heart & Home' set and it worked really well with that set too.

More samples to come during the week.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Pull out the Punches

Although this is meant to be a punch challenge with this card you can see how well punches can compliment your stamped designs.

I have used; two daisies, Flower pot, Leaf, butterfly and mini heart.

I love the butterfly punch as it embosses as well as punching out. From the waste you can collect lovely tiny little hearts which I have used around the daisies.

This the stamp I have used:
FRS106 Mushroom House

More Spring cards

Another Easter card using spring colours. I like making what I call sampler cards. By that I mean making separate elements and arranging them on a panel.

For this card I used two sets:
FRCL147 Eggy Fun
FRCL138 It's springtime

I did the colouring using Tombow pens which I have watered down. There are some white highlights drawn using a Sakura pen. There is a bit of sparkle from some 'Stickles' glitter glue.

Glitter Pot Workshops

Yesterday I was down at the Glitter Pot doing some workshops.

The ladies enjoyed themselves making 'bird-day' and 'Love' cards in the morning using my 'Sitting Pretty' Clear Magic stamp set.

In the afternoon we tackled cards for men who like their gadgets!

We used this set:

and this background stamp:

Yes, the smiley is in the set! I punched them out using a Woodware 3/4" circle punch.

Of course you could easily change these cards to suit a young women by altering the colour scheme.

Thank you ladies for coming to the W/shop.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Colours of Spring

I thought that with Easter coming up I would link the two together. It is probably more common to think of spring colours as being soft and muted but I tend to think of bright yellows for the daffodils and reds for the tulips! Of course there is also the beautiful blue skies that are so welcomed after the grey of winter.

For the stamping I have used a really great set:
FRCL147 Eggy Fun

There is a rather large outline of an egg and two borders in the set which I have used for the basket
The basket was stamped on brown card and the shading was achieved using a VersaMark Pen. I used a white Sakura pen fof the highlights.

There are lots of little element stamps in the set and I have used some of them to decorate my eggs.

It's a versatile stamp set and there is an element of fun as you can stamp a large egg shaped rabbit!

Bon Voyage

Here is another card I made to promote the 'action wobble' springs that Woodware distribute.

The spring is behind the boat so if you ping it it wobbles or bobbles up and down on the waves!
FRS116 Patchwork Boat

For the clouds I used stamps from this set:
FRCL215 Patch a Flight
This set also contains a plane and hot air balloon.

Baby Elephant

I made this card to promote the new  'Action Wobble' springs Woodware are distributing. The baby elephant is mounted on a spring and wobbles if you ping it.

I have paper pieced the elephant using the 'Stockhom' paper range that Woodware distribute. I really like it as the colour combination is unusual and muted.

I've added some detail with Copics and a Sakura Glaze pen. I love this little elephant!!

Mother's Day

I thought I would share with you the card that I made for my wonderful Mum for Mothering Sunday.
It's always a special feeling making a nice card for someone close to you. You put lots of love into it! I must have had my Mum in my mind at the time that I designed this stamp.
FRS110 Mum
The papers are from a 'My Minds Eye' 6 by 6 pad called 'Miss Caroline - Howdy Doody'

I've used two daisy punches for the flowers from Woodware. I thought they went well with the daisies on the paper.

This stamp could also be used for a birthday or thank you card.

I have also designed a 'Dad' stamp in a similar design to this one.

FRS109 Dad

I hope that if you are sharing the day with your Mum that it's a special one.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Good Luck

No doodling on this one I'm afraid!! I chose to make a good luck card for a keen footballer. Although there are plenty of other sports to choose from in the set that I used such as swimming or judo:
FRCL212 Number One Champ
The 'Good Luck' greeting is from this set:
FRCL080 Mixed Greetings
For the Woodware Spring Catalogue I did a white, red and blue theme with a hint of the upcoming Olympics. So with this card I just wanted to show that this set is for any time and can be quite specific to a favourite sport. You can incorporate team colours.

I stamped using Brilliance Graphite black ink. I have used Sakura pens;  white for the highlights/stitching and yellow Glaze to colour in the letters on the word 'Champion' and the number one. For a touch of class I have added some 5mm Mark Richards blue 'Nailheads'

Pop along to the Woodware Blog for other ideas for 'Good Luck' cards.

CHA pictures - amazing things done with paper

In January I had the opportunity to go to the winter CHA show. It's a big trade show all related to crafts and hobbies. It's great for me as for once I get a chance to be the other side of the desk.... not working.

All creative people need inspiration and the time to let the creative juices flow.

Although the point of going to the show is to find new products there is also a chance to look at some fab samples and to see displays put together to enhance products.

These pictures are of the DCWV stand or booth. The theme was based on trees, birds, butterflies and flowers.

All the birds, leaves, butterflies and flowers were made from paper. Someone cut all the peacock and parrot feathers! wow...

They won an award for the stand.

A 'Huge Thanks' doodled...

I love this stamp nearly has much as the 'Huge Happy Birthday'...

I thought I would share this card as it's in the same style as the 'Sketch' card where I used 'Huge Happy Birthday'.

This stamp is called 'Huge Thanks'
FRS213 Huge Thanks

I had great fun once again doodling and colouring using my Sakura pens:
Micron, Glaze and Stardust.

Woodware Design team Challenge - Sketch

Well I am really into doodling now! I have to say that when I get hooked I seem to have to do it over and over... I have used one of my new stamps design from the Spring release:
FRS214 Huge Happy Birthday

It's perfect for filling in using lots of different mediums as it is open and simple. It's great for paper piecing or doodling or filling in with pens or paint. I've done a mix of coloring and doodling. All the pens I have used are Sakura pens; Glaze, Stardust and of course the Micron for doodling. I love mixing the glaze pens!
The dot on the 'i' is a Craftwork Cards 'Candi'. This new range has tiny writing printed on them. I took a white one and Glazed it.

For the spotty effect I have used a Dark Stardust pen and water coloured in the background and added the dots using a Glaze pen.

The overlaps of the letters are ideal areas for doodling but on some of the letters I have drawn lines to create some extra doodling spaces.
Finally the sketch has a square in it but I have swapped it for a heart which I punched.

The '2' comes from this set:
FRCL103 Kids Birthdays
the 'U' and 'Congratulations' come from this set:
FRCL080 Mixed Greetings

Why not check out other takes on the sketch over at the Woodware Blog.
