Woodware Design Team Challenge - Zentangle

The challenge this week is to do some 'tangles'.
As you will have seen from previous postings I really like doing it.
I have quite a few books on the subject which are great for learning patterns or simply for inspiration. It is very relaxing to do and you don't need much in the way of products. Sakura Micron Pens are ideal for this. It's a good idea to have a selection of different size nibs. You can tangle from scratch by drawing some basic shapes to fill with a pencil or you can fill a stamped image or like I have done a Peel Off's design. I do not really follow the patterns in the books... I ad lib! I have put together a selection of images that I have 'tangled'. Give it a go it's good fun! Pop along to the Woodware Blog for other 'tangled' ideas.

Woodware Design Challenge - Anything but a square

This card is not square... as the challenge requires! I'm not sure what the shape is....

The cute little mouse comes from this set;

FRCL192 Micey Mice

It fits perfectly in the woodware 3" purple punch. I have used the Sakura Moonlight pens to colour the cake. The greeting is also in the set. The heart border has been punched using the Crafty Edger. Of course you could also keep the hearts for other projects.

Do pop along to the Woodware blog for other ideas.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Sketch

This week the challenge is a sketch. I have gone for a Christmas card idea using the gingerbread man from this set:

FRCL179 Gingerbread Collection

In the set are elements that you can use to compliment the main images such as the candy cane.
I have use Diamond Stickles to highlight the gingerbread man and Glossy accents on the icing.

The lovely background paper is from the 'Oslo' collection distributed by Woodware. I love the brown gingham ribbon as well as all the other ones in the Woodware collection.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Mercart Metal

Hello everybody it is Dorothy posting today, we have locked Francoise up, and she is not getting out until the new Woodware Catalogue is done and dusted and off to the printers! So here goes.....

Of course it had to be a Francoise designed stamp, and with sport in the news all the time at the moment my thoughts turned to The Number One Champ Clear Magic set.

I have used Mercart Metal to make a bronze, silver and gold medal. Of course the silver is just the back of the bronze! I used the green 1" circle punch and then ran the double ended decorative wheel over the punched shape. I used the morse code end across the middle and then the horizontal wheel around the edge.

The greeting is  mounted on red and blue gingham ribbon.

Hopefully Francoise will be back with you next week if not well I will be back! Why not pop over and see what the rest of the girls have been up to on the Woodware Blog?

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Purple and Gold

I'm probably going to get told off for cheating!... this is my interpretation of gold and purple.... the gold being orange and there is some purple there... lol

The set I have used is one of my favourites from the Spring release:
FRCL211 Heart and Home

The images are very simple and solid so they work beautifully with the Kaleidacolor ink pads.

For this card I have used the 'Spectrum' ink pad. The pad itself looks very bright but when stamped out and on cream card the colours are more muted.
I've used pages from an old book bought from Oxfam. The heart is a Woodware punch. As usual I have added some Mark Richards 'Nailheads' for some subtle bling.

Hope you've enjoyed this card. Do pop along to the Woodware Blog for more ideas using gold and purple.

Woodware Design team challenge - Teachers Gifts

For this week's challenge I have made a special card 'for the best teacher' and to say thank you for all the hard work and help.

I use to be a teacher and cards and gifts... even just a thank you were all much appreciated!

I have used two elements from this set;
FRCL160 School Tots

The tab on the side of the card was made using a woodware punch and I have added Mark Richard gold 'Nailheads'. The tag is also made using another Woodware punch which actually punches three different sized tags. I've used some markers for the colouring and a white Sakura pen for the highlights.

If you have enjoyed my idea why not pop along to the Woodware blog for other designs from the team.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Sketch

Instead of using the rectangle on the sketch I have added my chubby kitty!

FRS113 Chubby Kitty

I thought it would be fun to do pinks and add some bling...

I've used two Woodware punches for the fish and paw print. Really useful with this stamp
The greeting is included with the stamp. So a purrrrfect card for a cat lover or just for fun!

The chubby kitty is mounted on a Woodware Action Wobble so if you ping it it wobbles. It's a very light plastic spring that as two self adhesive bases for mounting. Very easy to use and great fun.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Invitations

For this week's challenge I have chosen to use my cocktail set which would be just perfect if you are having a summer party or BBQ.

FRCL152 Cocktails

In the set there are various cocktails and wordings to compliment. 'Party time' is one of them.
The confetti border that I stamped around the edge of the circular panel on this card is a small stamp in the same set.
I have layered up the glass as it is an easy shape to cut but if you had quite e few invitations to make you could omit that part.

For the colouring I have used Tombow pens and added some Stickles 'Diamond' glitter glue to frost the edge of the glass.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Sketch

For this week's sketch I have used one of my Peel off's designs in black. I have kept to the sketch and kept it very simple as there is quite a lot of detail in the main image.

FRANCOISE - FUNKY FLOWER WINDOWS - Black 94091B

To do the doodling I have use a black Sakura Micron pen. To add the colour to the flowers and vases I have used Sakura dark Stardust pens. I like to water colour using these pens. I usually put a line of colour around the inside edge of the Peel Off's and drag the colour out with a brush and water.
If you are a little scared to doodle freehand you can use Zentangle patterns. The sections in this design are quite small so the doodling is very simple.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - A child's card

The set that I have used to create this card is perfect for any cute little monster!

FRCL064 Little monsters

I love all the little elements like eyes and mouths that you can use to make up your own monsters.

I have used an A4 sheet of card which I have cut down the middle into two long strips. I have scored and folded one of the strips into four panel. Finally I cut of the corners for a tag effect.

I used Tombow pens to colour the little monsters. I have added some 'Stickles Diamond' glitter for fun. Pop along to the Woodware blog for some more fun ideas!

Woodware Design Team challenge - Red, white and blue

A quick post... or quick card. I picked up a free paper from Waitrose and really liked the design on the front page. I knew it would make a really nice backdrop for this Stampendous stamp : London Cling Stamp
I stamped the image and then added colour to make the flag and letters pop. I have use a Sakura clear glaze pen over the red on the flag and over the letters.I have added some Mark Richards bling and finished off with some ribbon.

I really like this stamp and it has a lot of potential for other creative projects. Why not pop along to the Woodware blog to see other examples using this stamp.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Buttons and bows

I do love buttons and bows!! as most of you probably already know....
On this card I have used Woodware blue buttons and yellow gingham ribbon. The bugs were made up by stamping elements from this set:
FRCL216 Patch a Bug
It's a real fun set that can be used to make up a caterpillar or flowers using the wings as petals. There is also a cute ladybug in this set.
The papers come from the 'London'
collection. I like my ginghams and there are two sheets of it in this collection.
For the flowers I have used the regular and large Woodware Daisy punches. I have highlighted the centres with a white Sakura pen.
For a change from wrapping the ribbon around the card I stuck a length across the card and added a bow at the end made separately.

Pop along to the Woodware Blog for some more inspiration on buttons and bows.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Rollagraph

We're having a blog hop!!!
Welcome to the
Woodware and Clearsnap
Spring Gifts Blog Hop!!!
Whether you're getting ready for Mother's Day (US), graduation season, or just because, these gifts ideas can be made with a few Clearsnap inks, Rollagraph Stamp Wheels, and Woodware Craft Collection Clear Stamps. All week long we'll be sharing inspiring gift ideas on our blogs here:
Clearsnap Blog:

It's all about Rollagraphs this week and creating a gift. So I have decorated the cover of a tall notepad that I bought in Tesco. In fact I bought a few as I liked the shape - tall and long. Asda also sell little notepads but they are shorter.

I have used my Rollagraph design over every thing I have added to the cover. I started by making a sheet of background paper using some of the very smooth stamping paper that Woodware distribute for 'Craftwork Cards'. I did some masking and sponging to bring out the design. I have used 'Chippies' to spell out the word 'notes' and rolled over them with the Rollagraph. I have added strips of black torn card which is all 'Rollagraphed' as well as the ribbon!!.... see what I mean. The black on black is very subtle.
Once the ink was dry on the 'Chippies' I sponged the letters. I really like the way that the letters are just visible and almost blend in to the background.
For the ink I used a ColorBox Wicked Black pad. I simply rolled my Rollagraph over the pad several times for good ever coverage like you would with a brayer. Very easy to use and versatile! [as you can see lol].

Head on over to the Clear Snap Blog to see what they've created today!! And don't forget to follow Clearsnap  on twitter and Facebook and you will find Woodware on Twitter and Facebook too.

Happy Hopping!

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Turquoise and brown

I really enjoyed doing this challenge as turquoise blue is one of my favourite colours and it goes so well with brown. I have combined two 'Kaleidacolor' ink pads 'Cappuccino Delight' and 'Fresh Breeze' to get the browns and turquoise blue. I do love these ink pads as they are very cleverly put together.
The stamp set featured is a new one from the Spring release which is so suited for purely stamping:
I did a very small amount of painting in the heart and on the butterflies using ink from the 'Cappuccino Delight' pad. I pressed the pad against some foil to make a palette so as not add water to the pad.
For extra detail I have added some Mark Richards bling. I have used 'Nailheads' in the corners, 'Candy Bonbons' dotted around and for the butterflies I coloured some gold 'Metals' brown with a Sakura 'Identi pen'. They look like copper!
If you are wondering where the background paper come from? I bought a very old book from an Oxfam shop so the pages are already yellowed...

Cards for Dads

Another card that I made in preparation  for my demo day at 'A Maze of Memories'. It could be used for 'Father's Day' or for a birthday.
I have used this single stamp and this greeting set:
FRS109 Dad
FRCL171 All Through The Year

The 'Dad' stamps works really well over patterned paper as in this sample or is also great on plain coloured card with the border coloured in.

I love punches that have good waste [lol] ... like the tiny stars from this 'Martha Stewart' punch.

Even the men are entitled to a little bling... oh and a bit of ribbon!

I did a little bit of grunge on the blue card which I think works really well.

The papers come from a 6 by 6 pad from 'My Minds Eye'.

Hope you have enjoyed and will come back in a couple days time to see a variation. Tomorrow is my turn for posting on the Woodware Blog.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - 21st Birthday

This one had to be a quick card as I'm so busy sorting the Christmas... yes Christmas designs. I'm very please with my little[lol] collection! but now they need cleaning up,last minute adjustments and a base...
I have worked with the number 'Chippies' and 'Skagen' paper collection. Quite muted for me!!
I covered the numbers with Starlight Black Brilliance ink. It is like a pewter silver. A little tip to hurry the process use a heat gun between layers!
I've used Mark Richards pearls to bling up the numbers, keys, tag and corners.
The inverted corner punch is perfect for the pearls in the corners. I have stamped the greeting and rose border onto a punched tag. They come from this set:
FRCL213 Tag Builder

The lilac ribbon is a new one that Woodware are stocking. It's to die for!
You get a rainbow assortment in a lovely box.

Woodware Design Team Challenge - Sketch

wasn't sure when I first saw the sketch but once I started to plan I warmed to it. I have opted to change the thin rectangles to lines of circles which I really like. I've used one of my doggy sets:
FRCL119 Man's Best Friend

I have punched the circles using the yellow 1 1/2" punch. The noses are shinny... I remembered! The Sakura clear Glaze Pen is perfect for the job. I did some sponging as it seems appropriate for a doggy theme. I have added some Mark Richards 'Nailheads' to complete the card.

Another Demo Card

As promised another sample that I made ahead of my demo at 'A Maze of Memories' to show you. If you missed yesterday's go back one post to see some fun cards using my 'Smart Gadgets' set.

This is an easel card. They are not very easy to photograph but I do love the concept of the card.

I have paper pieced using papers from an echo 6 by 6 pad. The stamp is one of my favourites from this spring release.

FRS116 Patchwork Boat

I thought this would make a great card for a dad with a summer birthday or for Father's day in June. For some reason the boat looks more nautical to me on a circular panel!

I used the clouds from this set;
FRCL215 Patch a Flight

Demo at A Maze of Memories

I had a wonderful day on Saturday just past at 'A Maze of Memories' near Thame/Long Crendon. I did a demo in the morning and the ladies did a master class using some of my new stamps in the afternoon. There was plenty of chat, tea and cake!!
Everyone is so friendly that I love going there... wish it was closer so I could pop in every week for a craft fix!
I wanted to show you some cards I made ahead of the demo using this set. They were inspired by my Glitter pot W/Ss.

FRCL213 Smart Gadgets

It's my beautiful boy in the frame aged 14... he's almost 19 now.

Here is another card but with the aperture the other way up. I created the aperture with a new Hero/Sizzix die. It's a great simple shape.

The orange piece inside the card has been stamped using one of my singles. You can also see it inside the card above.

FRS212 Alphabet Background

It goes really well with the 'Smart Gadgets' set. At the demo I used it with my 'Heart & Home' set and it worked really well with that set too.

More samples to come during the week.
